Bliss) on October 11, 1957 to Joseph Manning Barnhill, Sr. and the late Elsie Lee McRainey Barnhill. Graduating from St. Pauls High School in 1975, his first job was with Brown’s Hardware in Red Springs. He followed that by serving as the manager who opened St. Pauls Hardee’s. Joe then went to work for Leon Sugar’s Men’s Shop in Fayetteville, which led him to Joe Sugar’s Big and Tall Men’s Store in St. Pauls, where he stayed for over 25 years. After his retirement from Joe Sugar’s he went to work for McNeill Mackie Funeral Home, where he worked at the time of his death. He was a person of great faith, being baptized at Green Springs Baptist Church. Later in life he joined St. Pauls Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder.
